Tribal Art 1995 is work of the student Kien at the Vietnam Fine Arts University in Hanoi that was exhibited in a group show of all the students. A large triptych, composed of three panels 200cm height by 90cm wide, the work as it hung fluttering in the breeze made a very strong impression. Utilizing strong natural colors on paper, the artist used symbols from the different ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands where he would often go, seeking inspiration from their uninhibited way of living with nature. Currently the artist lives as a Buddhist monk at a monastery in central Hanoi.
