Nguyễn Trung

The Artist

1940 Soc Trang Vietnam

Nguyen Trung is sometimes referred to as the Father of Vietnamese abstract art, a founding member of Young Artists Association, a vanguard art group in Saigon established in 1966 and remaining active until the momentous political transformations in 1975. His life has gone through the ups and downs of his homeland’s sufferings.

Trung has and continues to witness the changes and developments of the country though he still stays true to his identity with his unique form of abstraction and in the process, has been an influence to an entire generation of Vietnamese artists. He is one of the most respected and senior artists of Vietnam, turning abstract art into historical importance. Trung’s works now can be seen in many private and public collections such as Vietnam National Fine Art Museum Hanoi, Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh Fine Art Museum HCMC, Vietnam, Singapore Art Museum, Museo Biblioteca Archivio, Italy.
