The Artist
1942 Hanoi Vietnam
Pham Hoc Hai was the vice director of the Vietnam Fine Arts University, Hanoi Vietnam and is known for his sketches, works on silk and early propaganda posters created to support the war effort in the early 1970’s.
Uncle Ho 1980 is a woodcut of Ho Chi Minh that immediately attracted the attention of Suzanne when she was first visiting the Vietnam Fine Arts University in her early days in Hanoi in 1994. The bright twinkling eyes and reverence shown the revolutionary leader is clearly depicted in the vivid strokes.
