Exhibiting mainly within Vietnam, the artist now devotes his time to his work as a publisher of textbooks for the Vietnam Education Publishing House. Hiep graduated from the Vietnam Fine Arts University in Hanoi, specializing in lacquer and has gone on to explore different ways of working with the medium.

Series I, II, III 2007

Charming examples of the spirited life of the Vietnamese people in the countryside. Hiep uses traditional techniques of lacquer including the use of eggshell and gold leaf to accentuate form and color, his styling is quirky with random composition which lends an air of modernity to the classical lacquer style.
