Nguyễn Xuân Long
The Artist
1974 Hanoi Vietnam
Expressing a rather existentialist view of the world, Long’s works on Do paper are simple constructions of form in a mostly vacant space, symbols of Buddhism or ancient hieroglyphs are used to convey a feeling of endless time and an interconnectedness to the universe.
Long graduated from the Vietnam Fine Arts University in Hanoi in 1997 and has been active exhibiting locally in Vietnam and also abroad since that time. Working in many mediums, photography, painting, video and sculpture, his works on the handmade Do paper seem to best express the strengths of the artist.
