The Artist

Nguyen Xuan Tiep is a graduate of the Vietnam Fine Arts University in Hanoi and was very active in the early 90’s as the country was first opening up to the outside world. Tiep was one of the first Vietnamese artists to be recognized in the Asia Pacific region in the Asia Pacific Triennial in Brisbane in 1993. Tiep has exhibited widely locally and internationally as well as working as deputy director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum.

He is known for his works on the handmade Do paper, depicting animals of the zodiac or themes of Buddhism. His highly stylized works take their inspiration from the revered master, Nguyen Tu Nghiem.
