Tran Anh Quan was very active in the early 90’s noted for his contemporary abstract styling juxtaposed with lacquer, silver leaf and other more traditional materials, manipulating the mediums in new and innovative ways. The artist created a sensation for his installation in 1997 in the revered Temple of Literature, which challenged the rights of freedom of expression and the status quo.

Quan graduated from the Vietnam Fine Arts University in Hanoi and continues to work and exhibit locally and abroad.
